Qualifications: MBCHB, FCOG, FRANZCOG
Dr Stephen Baines was educated in Zimbabwe and South Africa and completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Johannesburg in 1991.
He immigrated to Australia in 1994 and took up the position of Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Maryborough and Hervey Bay Hospitals.
He has been interested in reproductive medicine since completing his specialist training in 1991 and to further his practice in infertility he joined the full time staff of The Wesley Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecological Surgery Unit at the Wesley Hospital in 2001.
EXPERTISE
His interests and expertise include male infertility, pre implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis and endoscopic and laser surgery. Dr Baines also offers expert care in all areas of general gynaecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery.
In addition, he maintains his commitment to improving women’s reproductive health in regional Queensland by continuing to conduct fortnightly out patient and operative clinics at Maryborough.
