IVF Pioneer awarded Nobel Prize!
Monash IVF in delighted to congratulate Professor Robert Edwards following his awarding of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Medicine.
Professor Edwards and his colleague Dr Patrick Steptoe are widely recognised as the “fathers” of IVF. Their pioneering work resulted in the birth of Louise Brown on 25 July 1978 in Britain, the world’s first IVF baby.
The work commenced by Professor Edwards helped shape many of the initial breakthroughs achieved by Monash IVF here in Australia thirty years ago. Today, Monash IVF continues to improve it’s success rates and care processes through this pioneering spirit.
Today, our pregnancy success rates for women in the 25 – 34 years of age group are in excess of 44% (for single blastocyst transfer). Success with more than 20,000 babies speaks for itself.
